  • This Mariachi-flavored track is the fourth Christmas single to be released by Las Vegas rock band, The Killers. Vocalist Brandon Flowers recalled to NME in 2014: "I started writing it on an airplane. That was approaching it from the standpoint of the recession had hit and there was a lot of trouble going round. It's sort of about throwing all of that out the window during Christmas time."
  • The song features two bands that opened for the Killers during their 2009 worldwide tour, Wild Light and Mariachi El Bronx.
  • The single was released as a Digital Download on World Aids Day, December 1, 2009. All proceeds from the track were donated to the Global Fund to help fight AIDS in Africa.
  • In the song's music video Beverly Hills 90210 actor Luke Perry plays a lonesome, cowboy searching the desert for his long-lost love.
