Songfacts®:

  • Brandon Flowers penned this windswept cinematic ballad with the lead singer of Scottish band Travis, Fran Healy. The Killers frontman also penned three Battle Born tracks with producer Daniel Lanois, marking the first instances of someone other than a member of the group receiving a writing credit on a Killers studio album.
  • The song's music video was directed by Tim Burton and filmed at the seaside town of Blackpool in northwest England. It was shot inside the town's ornate Tower Ballroom.

The clip stars Hollywood actress Winona Ryder and depicts a man who falls in love with a wax mannequin that looks like her.

Burton previously directed The Killers' visual for "Bones."
  • Burton is a huge fan of the group. "I love every song that they do, he told the crowd while welcoming The Killers to the stage at the Neon Museum's annual Boneyard Ball. "They're beautiful, they're my favorite band."
