Songfacts®:

  • "Get On It" is the most popular song by The Kin, a group comprised of two Australian brothers - Isaac and Thorald Koren - and a drummer from New York who plays with his hands: Mark "Shakerleg" Nicosia. The uplifting, stadium-ready song served them well in 2013 when they opened for Pink on her The Truth About Love tour; they also opened for Coldplay in Australia. The group released another album in 2017, but then Isaac and Thorald disbanded The Kin to focus on songwriting, production, and development of other artists. As "The Brothers Koren" they became known for their "Songwriter's Journeys" retreats, which explore each songwriter's unique musical perspective.
  • Any meaning in this song is subconscious - it came to Thorald Koren in a dream. Takeaway is, always get up and voice note your dream songs," he told Songfacts.
  • The band was signed to Interscope Records - they were one of Jimmy Iovine's last signings on the label. "Get On It" got a music video and was released as a single, but it didn't catch on outside Australasia. It did go Gold in New Zealand.
