Songfacts®:

  • Frontman Luke Pritchard (from The Sun April 4, 2008): "A song about a girl you meet who's cool but it doesn't click. Then they really like you but then you're not interested."
  • Konk was named after the studio in London's Crouch End (owned by Ray Davies of The Kinks) in which the album was made. Pritchard explained to the New Musical Express: "Hugh (Guitarist Hugh Harris) said, 'Why don't we call it the studio name?' And we thought 'The Kooks-Konk' sounded right."
  • Pritchard told the Daily Mail April 11, 2008: "This is a transition song between the first and second albums. That's why we picked it as a single."
