  • The Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir comprises staff from right across the NHS workforce including doctors, nurses, physios, porters, administrators and many more. In 2012 they took part in choirmaster Gareth Malone's BBC2 show, Sing While You Work, where they were narrowly beaten in the final.
  • This mash up of Coldplay's "Fix You" and Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" was originally produced following the choir's work on Sing While You Work.
  • Junior doctor Harriet Nerva was having a really bad time at work. "A patient with cancer that I had been looking after for quite a number of weeks died." she told The Guardian. "I was listening to the song and it dawned on me that a great way of translating how I was feeling and how proud I was to work for the NHS would be getting [the song] to #1."

"I think some of the messages in the song are very pertinent," she added. "It's to say we're here for you, throughout the week, 365 days a year."

Nerva started a grassroots social media campaign with children's doctor Katie Rogerson and NHS communications manager Joe Blunden to make the song the #1 single for Christmas 2015.
  • All proceeds from the song are being shared between Macmillan Cancer Support and local healthcare charities.
  • The song went toe to toe with Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" in a battle for the UK Christmas #1. In true holiday spirit, the Canadian requested that his loyal army of Beliebers throw their support to the charity single. The Biebs' request was granted and the NHS Choir eventually won the closely-fought race for the festive honors.
