The Flood

Album: The Flood: New Music From Ancient Words (2014)

Songfacts®:

  • There are quite a few songs called simply "The Flood"; whether or not this is the best, it is certainly the oldest. It was recreated by Stef Conner and her collaborators - Andy Lowings and Mark Harmer - from ancient Babylonian and Sumerian texts. "The Flood" and related songs from the same album are thought to be the first to be sung in the language since ancient times. The music is original, but Conner and her team believe the ancients would have recognized these new works or at least think they sounded familiar. >>>
