Songfacts®:

  • After original member Laurel Masse was injured in a car accident and decided not to return to the group, this was the song that nailed it for Cheryl Bentyne at her audition. The song was already recorded by the Manhattan Transfer with Masse, and remained a constant concert favorite. Both Masse and Bentyne have recorded several solo albums. >>>

  • Patrice from Oak Brook, IlI love The Manhattan Transfer, and have seen them sixteen times in concert. I also called WIND in Chicago many years ago, and begged them, repeatedly, to invite them for an interview. Finally, my wish came true when Cheryl Bentyne (the singer I always wanted to replace...we have the same range) agreed to the interview. I had the opportunity to not only phone in and talk to her, but I monopolized the entire time. I loved talking to her and asking her questions about her favorite songs, her beginnings, etc. I remember that she was in Oklahoma City when she took the interview. I then saw her and the group a few weeks later at Poplar Creek. Thank you Cheryl for your wonderful interview. And, a big thank you to The Manhattan Transfer for your many years of beautiful music.
