Songfacts®:

  • The Marshall Tucker Band's guitarist Toy Caldwell was their primary songwriter, and he wrote this song for his wife Abbie, who told us: "He said, 'Listen Ab, what I wrote about you.' I was 19 and he was 21 when we married, so there have been many songs during all those years. We had 2 daughters, I did not travel with Toy. I did attend the Presidential inauguration for Jimmy Carter and met Toy in Paris for the last 2 weeks of the European tour."
