• "Lonely One" is the ninth track on The Mohrs' debut album, Kings of Nowhere. It was the second song that prolific singer, songwriter, and producer, Hawksley Workman, and The Mohrs' frontwoman, Jackie Mohr, wrote together. After writing their first tune together, "Cassette Tape," Mohr was worried about the musical direction they were taking because it was more poppy than she wanted. She told Workman that she needed to write something heavier, so he came up with the guitar part in the first verse and lyrics that painted the image of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll.
• In our interview with Mohr, she recalled how the chorus came to life, "The verse was all done and there was nothing. There was just a chord progression. I was standing in the studio and [Hawksley] was like, 'Just try stuff!' So I tried a few things. We kept the tape rolling and all of a sudden I just sang that chorus: those high notes, the whole falsetto part, everything that came after it, and those lyrics." Mohr elaborated on how that event changed the dynamics of their partnership, "It sounds weird to say, I'm not trying to be arrogant about it, but I think I just blew his mind in that moment. I just remember being so excited because I was like, 'I just blew Hawksley Workman's mind! This is going to work out! He's going to want to write with me!' It was just this real proud moment for me."
