Songfacts®:

  • According to John Van der Kiste in The Roy Wood Story... "Cherry Blossom Clinic" is a psychedelic track that was scheduled for release on Regal Zonophone, but the band felt by this time "a single with lyrics about a lunatic asylum would be asking for trouble." This could have been because of the legal action brought by Prime Minister Harold Wilson over the promotional card for "Flowers In The Rain," which although not their fault, cost the band a great deal of money.

    "Fire Brigade" was released instead.
  • "Cherry Blossom Clinic" was written by Roy Wood, who used wah-wah on it. The original runs to around 2 minutes 35 seconds, but later a new version was recorded - "Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited" - which runs to around 7 minutes 40 seconds. This includes inter alia snatches of "Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring." >>>
