Songfacts®:

  • The Never Ending is a Los Angeles sextet formed in 2013. They consist of vocalist Debby Ryan, guitarists Kyle Moore and Carman Kubanda, bassist Edwin Carranza, keyboardist Harry Allen and drummer Johnny Franco. The band was previously known as Debby and The Never Ending after their frontwoman, who is recognisable to many as the star of Disney Channel's Jessie and previously of The Suite Life on Deck.
  • This sweet and smooth ballad was released as the lead single off The Never Ending's debut EP One. It finds Ryan cautioning against losing yourself under the bright lights of stardom "The boys and I decided to share 'Mulholland Drive' as the first look into our music as The Never Ending," she told Billboard magazine. "We're all young artists in L.A., fighting every day to find our purpose without losing who we are. With any type of spotlight, the shadows get more noticeable. 'Mulholland Drive' tells the story of fighting for what's light, what's right, what's real, and what's never ending."
  • Mulholland Drive is a 21-mile road in the eastern Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California and is home to some of the most exclusive and most expensive residences in the world. It is named after pioneering Los Angeles civil engineer William Mulholland.

The road is featured in numerous movies, songs, and novels, most famously serving as the title of a 2001 David Lynch neo-noir film about an aspiring actress named Betty Elms.
