Songfacts®:

  • The Beatles had the soothing "Golden Slumbers," but the first single from The Posies was "Golden Blunders," a song about making big mistakes.

"It's about two kids in high school who mess up the rest of their lives," singer/guitarist Jon Auer explained. "There's the implication of a teenage pregnancy but there's not any amazing message here."
  • Dear 23 was the first album The Posies released on DGC Records, which signed them after their 1988 indie debut Failure found an audience on college radio.
  • Beatles drummer Ringo Starr covered this for his 1992 solo album Time Takes Time.
