Songfacts®:

  • The title of this song is deliberately provocative; it is not about a gang bang (a mass rape), but about a woman of easy virtue who finds having sex with a continuous stream of men therapeutic. It was released as the B-Side of "Sergeant Fury."
  • In spite of his over the top stage image, Alex Harvey was a family man, as his biographer John Neil Munro points out, adding that in the liner notes to the compilation Big Hits And Close Shaves, Harvey wrote: "There's no glory in rape, you must protect your little sisters." >>

  • Alex Harvey from London The song isn't about rape ... but about a girl that loves sex with lots of guys ! !
If the song was in reverse ... a guy that has sex with lots of women I'm sure he would be way cool ... yeah .
So lets let both men & women who enjoy having sex with numerous partners ... enjoy themselves . ;-)
  • Babbling Babette from Tulsa OkLast summer I went to a huge flea market here in Tulsa & they were giving away a few bundles of old really worn vinyl LPs and this was in the bundle I got. I really was interested in only 3 LPs in the bundle by Chubby Checker, but the guy said I had to take them all--or none. Jerk! Anyway, I took them all home and played them. The LP "The Impossible Dream" was practically unplayed!! haaahaa Oh well, Alex Harvey Band's music was just mildly OK, but not to my tastes. This was recorded in the early Seventies, after all. The song Gang Bang was bizarre and just weird. Obviously, the band wasn't focused on commercial success! One wonders why the record company even risked financing them with crappy music like this.
  • Aiken Nutz from Tahlequah OkI never heard of this song until last year when in college my new dorm roommate played it on a record player (vinyl record). Pretty gross about a chick who likes gangbang sex with lotta dudes. I never liked the record. Never heard of Alex Harvey Band. Thank goodness!!
