Album: Born on the Wrong Planet (1997)

Songfacts®:

  • One of the first String Cheese Incident songs, this band composition is a peculiar take on Johnny Cash clichés, complete with references to trains, his "man in black" persona, and his song "Ring Of Fire." It's all set to a very exaggerated rhythm that was typical of a Johnny Cash song.
  • The band first started playing this song in 1995, and included it on their 1997 debut album Born on the Wrong Planet. It quickly became a live favorite and staple of their setlists.
  • In our 2014 interview with SCI keyboard player Kyle Hollingsworth, he said of this song: "It is awesome, because I love the fact that it's a silly part of String Cheese, the fun part of String Cheese. Having fun to me is endearing, so I want to keep that."
