Songfacts®:

  • The first track to be revealed from The Vines' Wicked Nature album picks one of the recurring themes of front man Craig Nicholls' songwriting over the years. "The words are about not really fitting in, being an outsider," he explained to NME. "Do I still feel like that? Yeah, it never really changes. But it works good for writing songs!"

Nicholls has Asperger's Syndrome, which makes it difficult for him to fit in with other people. Other Vines songs that reflect his outsider status include the 2006 track Spaceship, where he sings about how his condition has affected relationships with his family.

Nicholls is not the only high-profile musician with Asperger's - Gary Numan also has the condition.
