Songfacts®:

  • The Wanted are an English/Irish boy band based in London, formed in 2009 through mass auditioning. They comprise Max George, who joined The Wanted following the demise of his former group Avenue, Siva Kaneswaran, who has appeared as a model in several advertisement campaigns, Nathan Sykes who was plucked from the Sylvia Young acting school, Tom Parker and Jay McGuiness. This is their debut single.
  • The song was written by Steve Mac, Ed Drewett and Wayne Hector. English singer-songwriter Ed Drewett also contributed vocals to Professor Green's UK hit single, "I Need You Tonight." Prolific UK hitmakers Steve Mac and Wayne Hector CV includes many of Westlife chart-toppers and JLS' "Beat Again."
  • Max explained the song's lyrical content in an interview with Orange Music Store: "It's basically about a girl you can't get out of your mind - whatever you do, you just can't - and it describes how to get up from this all time low."
  • Ed Drewett originally penned this for himself to record, but his record label didn't rate the tune, so he offered it to The Wanted.
