Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single from Pop boy band The Wanted's second studio album. The song was chosen as the official Comic Relief single for Red Nose Day, 2011 and released on March 13, 2011. "We were in a position where we can contribute to Comic Relief. We grew up watching it as kids and to be involved is crazy but an absolute honor. We hope we do everyone proud," said Jay.
  • Said Max in publicity materials: "This song is about a day in your life that you never forget. It's an upbeat, feel good track and our favorite so far. Were really excited to get it out there, and delighted that it is supporting such a great cause."
  • Following The Wanted member Tom Parker's death from a brain tumor on March 30, 2022, the rest of the band sang a stripped-back rendition for his memorial service. Afterwards, they released "Gold Forever (For Tom)" in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity. The new version peaked at #75 in the UK.
