Songfacts®:

  • This synth-pop lovelorn jam finds The Weeknd involved with a married woman. Tesfaye has only just discovered she's already taken and is cross with her for deceiving him. Though he's often sung about his cheating ways in the past (including on another Dawn FM track, "Sacrifice") the singer is hurt that he's sharing her.
  • In the second verse, The Weeknd protests that he's "way too grown for that deceivin'." He seems to have changed his tune since his 2021 collaboration with Doja Cat, "You Right." In that song he romances Doja even though she's already in a relationship.
  • Lil Wayne steps in halfway through with a cuss-filled verse. He doubles-up on the song's thesis of The Weeknd refusing to play second fiddle to the girl's husband. This is their second collaboration following The Weeknd's guesting on Weezy's 2013 Dedication 5 track "I'm Good."
  • The Weeknd co-wrote and co-produced the slinky track with Calvin Harris. The pair previously collaborated on the Scottish dance musician's 2020 single "Over Now."

Oneohtrix Point Never also co-wrote the song and supplied additional production along with Max Martin and Oscar Holter.
