Songfacts®:

  • The title track from The Whigs' first album, "Give 'em All a Big Fat Lip" was written about the band feeling as if they had been "tormented and abused" by someone who was trying to help the band progress in a way they weren't ready for. Despite the title, the song has a positive message. In his Songfacts interview, lyricist Parker Gispert said: "It's about taking something like that, where you are feeling injured by somebody else, and feeling like the proper way to retaliate is to keep going, and to not quit."
