Songfacts®:

  • This bluesy-guitar driven song is the lead single from Take a Vacation!, the debut album by American Rock band The Young Veins. The group is the first musical project by Ryan Ross and Jon Walker after their departure from Panic! at the Disco.
  • Take a Vacation! was recorded at Castle Oak Studios and Sunset Sound in LA, and features guest vocals and instrumentation by Rilo Kiley drummer Jason Boesel and Phantom Planet bassist Alex Greenwald, who co-produced the disc. All eleven tracks on the record are under three minutes long. "I guess something switched in Jon and my songwriting and I guess we just trimmed the fat and cut out parts we didn't need," Ross explained to The Chicago Music Industry Examiner.

  • Elliot from New York, NyI love Ryan and John still and I thinks its kind of a stab at Brendon Urie after they split off from Panic! At the Disco. I love Panic but I loved these two so I followed them as they split off as well. Change could be referring to how Brendon and Spencer wanted to stick with punk, emo sound of 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out," while Ryan and John enjoyed "Pretty. Odd." Ryan at one point said that Brendon was a pain in the ass because of their different idea's. This could be Ross and Walker's last stab at Urie and Smith aside from the obvious album title called 'Take a Vacation" a nicer way of saying get lost.
Great song and great album all in all and if you liked 'Pretty. Odd.' then this is an obvious choice.
  • K from Nowhere, OnCorrection: "Heart of Mine" is 3:00, and "Everyone But You" is 3:08. So, yeah. Great album.
  • Robert from Ridgfield Park, NjThis is The Young Veins' first single. Ryan and the rest of the band are seen wearing matching suits and performing on a venue similar to that of the Ed Sullivan's show. Ryan has said before that he's a big Beatles fan.
