Songfacts®:

  • This song was penned by Thomas Rhett's father, Rhett Atkins, with Luke Laird and Shane McAnally. Thomas recalled: "The first time I heard this demo the first line said, 'My Goodness' and I immediately got this picture in my head of an old school college teacher lecturing the class. Then, the song went into this janky song about this guy trying to play it cool. We have all been there…girls and guys. I can't remember how many times I wanted to play it cool with the girl I wanted to hang out with and I would say, 'Call me girl if you're free.'"
