Songfacts®:

  • Three Bad Jacks frontman Elvis Suissa told us that this song was about his wife. "That was the first song I ever wrote for myself," said Suissa. "I always wrote songs for other people. So that was basically my first song and it was just the purest song I ever wrote. I wrote it in a couple of minutes. And I started playing it and people requested it three, four times a night. It made a career for us. It was the sweetest song I've ever written."
  • There is an Elvis Presley influence in this song, but the Three Bad Jacks leader Elvis Suissa had no choice in his name - that was his parents' idea. "They used to take me to see bands, people like Freddie King and Albert King and just David Bowie and just anything rootsy, bluesy they took me to see," said Suissa. "The first thing that I ever heard was Elvis Presley. I heard Janis Joplin. I heard jazz artists like Brian Green. And I played soul, funk, blues - it was just what I did. There was no thought process. I just needed to do it every second of the day."
