  • Tinashe dropped this sensual track on February 12, 2018. "I would describe 'Faded Love' as just one of those moods you're in," she told Genius. "You just are feeling sexy and you don't necessarily have to think it through too much. You don't necessarily need to be like with somebody that you love, but maybe you're just like feeling in the mood tonight, you know?"
  • The song's glitchy beat was supplied by StarGate. The Norwegian pair of Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen have been behind a huge number of hits by some of the world's biggest pop stars, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Shakira, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez and Sia. Tinashe said:

"When I heard the track, I was like, 'oh, okay I feel like it's kind of groovy.' It's kind of, like, night-time. I was envisioning myself just dancing alone with a whole bottle of wine in my hand in my room in the mirror. That was just kind of the mind-set I was in, I think."
  • The slow jam features a verse by Future. The pair previously linked up for "How Many Times," from Tinashe's 2014 debut Aquarius. The songstress said:

"I had a great time working Future on my first album. He was on one of my favorite songs on the album called 'How Many Times' so I was like, 'okay, we gotta do this again.' For this song, I thought this would be a very interesting beat to hear Future rap on. Usually, you kind of expect to hear him on some more trappy stuff. I thought he did a really great job for sure. I was like, 'yeah, this is awesome.'"
  • Tinashe told MTV News correspondent Gaby Wilson that Future's romantic rhymes was exactly what the song needed.

"I think it was a little bit unexpected," she said. "I think you would probably expect to hear Future on something a little bit more trap-oriented or something that didn't feel as emotional. So it was kind of cool to hear him rapping on a beat like that, and the way that he kind of approached the cadence of the rap was also really kind of interesting."
