  • Tom Odell was originally part of the band Tom and the Tides, but he decided to become a solo artist as he didn't want to have to rely on people. Lily Allen attended one of his early solo gigs, and impressed, she signed him to her label. "I'd never met anyone remotely famous before at all,' Odell told The Mail On Sunday. 'I come from a place where fame is idolised, probably a little bit too much. Lily's label gave me an advance, which was the most money I'd had at that point. I went out and bought an old Mini Cooper for cash. Then three weeks later I got back from a show in Scotland and the car was gone. So if you see a racing-green classic Mini Cooper, it's mine." He penned this song about the experience.
