Songfacts®:

  • The title track of Tom Odell's Wrong Crowd album finds him singing about why he's mixing with unseemly others. Admitting that the album is "half autobiographical," Odell told The Sun it took time to realize that the stories in the songs were about his own life. "The closer to the album being released, the more I realize it is almost denial that it is not about me. It totally is," he said.

"It's an album that is dramatized," Odell continued. "I am very inspired by cinema and my lyrics are overly dramatic at times. I'm still trying to work out who the wrong crowd are."
  • Odell first played a version of the song at Philharmonie in Köln, Germany on August 20, 2015.
  • The song's music video was shot in South Africa, and directed by George Belfield (Kwabs' "Perfect Ruin," Paloma Faith's "Beauty Remains").
