Songfacts®:

  • Tom Walker originally was planning on recording this as a solo song, but when it was about three-quarters done, Swedish singer Zara Larsson dropped into the studio, heard the track, and asked if she could do a vocal on it. Walker told Apple Music: "I never really thought our voices would work well together, but they sound wicked on the track."
  • Lyrically, the song is about a toxic relationship Walker and Larsson can't let go.

I'm too proud to call you
But I'm still thinking of you
Oh, I think I love you
  • The song was co-written by female footballer Chelcee Grimes. When she penned the song, she was playing as a forward for Fulham Ladies.

Grimes' other songwriting credits include Kylie Minogue's "Million Miles," Louisa Johnson's "So Good," and Dua Lipa (feat BlackPink)'s "Kiss and Make Up."
