The fact is, you don't f--king know him!!! You know nothing! I know nothing about him! You can't consider anything he says as being factual. He knows what to say, and he says it... Don't overanalyze him.
  
• Thatguy from UsMJK is an atheist. Just because somebody mentions religion or uses religious themes, it does not necessarily mean they are religious. His reference to his mother's innocence is the same here, as it was in APC's "Judith." He does not know she is going to heaven, but says that if she does she should proclaim her innocence to God. He references her innocence as it seems unfair for a faithful, sinless person to suffer and die.
• Angie from Louisville, Ky, KyLet's keep in mind that the time between Judith and Wings for Marie was of great transition. She was there, and then she was mercifully gone. Judith, was to me, Maynard's personal anger towards the creator she seemed to believe in so deeply even after her stroke and paralysis. Why would a creator so wonderful and worth having such devoted faith in do something to one of his followers? In Wings, it's about JMK finally being free and having the ability to STAND in front of her creator and say, here I am, I never lost faith in you, it's your turn to give me what I am owed in the afterlife.

To get stuff off his chest and make us wonder. I hate the fact that his mother was in a coma and that he has issues. But I love the music he makes from it. I wish I could do the same.

  How would I have come up with the idea of what this song was about if I was oblivious to the writing style of tool? Is your facetious comment agreeing with my observation of the premise of this song or are you just trying to insult me.
  Just for the record I have seen 13 tool shows not including the one I'm going to see tomorrow 12 11 07 at bill gram memorial auditorium so I think I have a fairly decent grasp on the concepts of tool not to mention I met Maynard (who was an arrogant prick by the way) while working in the islands.

• Corporallclegg from Waikoloa, HiPersonally I think this song is about satan falling from grace and in part 2 his rise back to god (10,000 days in the fire is long enough your coming home) but I could be giving Tool more credit then they deserve to think they would write a song that had that deep of a story behind it.

• Amie from Fort Worth, TxI think it is interesting to see Maynards attitude change towards his mother. In APC's Mer de Noms, in Judith, he is angry at her for having so much faith in god when he paralyzed her, but then after she dies he realizes her reasons for keeping faith.
