Songfacts®:

  • This Monty Criswell, Derek George and Mickey Jack Cones penned song finds Trace Adkins listing the things that get him fired up. However, he concludes nothing gets him as "lit" as his girl with the "fire engine red on her lips."
  • The track was released as the second single from Adkins' first album for Wheelhouse Records "'Lit' was a song that just came along as we were in the process of recording this album," Adkins explained to Radio.com. "I didn't expect it to be a single, but Benny Brown, the president of the label [Wheelhouse], got all lit up about it, and he wanted to put it out as a single, so that's what we're doing. It's just a fun song. Don't look for the deep, profound thing, there's nothing deep or profound about this."
  • Adkins debuted the song during the All-American Summer Concert Series on Fox & Friends on July 1, 2016.
