Songfacts®:

  • This song was penned by Train vocalist Pat Monahan with Jerry Becker, who plays the piano and guitar with the band on tour. They wrote it for NBC's weight-loss competition show, The Biggest Loser. A 22-second portion of the song plays during the opening credits.
  • Daryl Berg, executive director of music for Reveille, the company that produces the show, originally reached out to EMI Music Publishing for potential songwriters to pen the opening theme. A bunch of artists were pitched, which were narrowed down to three with Train being the #1 choice. Monahan and Becker wrote two songs for submission, and the slightly less energetic number was chosen. EMI, Reveille and Train then went back and forth as the band shaped the song to fit the show's needs. "They were interested in something dramatic," Train's manager, Jonathan Daniels told Billboard magazine, "and they really didn't have much to change."
