Songfacts®:

  • Country star Cam and Gym Class Heroes' frontman Travie McCoy join Train frontman Pat Monahan to sing on this romantic pop song. The lyrics tell a story of two lovers who seem to elevate each other when they're together.
  • Monahan finds that he gets much better treatment when he's with his woman.

    When I ride by myself,
I don't ever get no help
When I roll up with her
    Everybody calls me "Sir"

Cam sings from the female perspective, outlining the upgrades she gets when she's with her man.

I ain't goin' nowhere unless he's there with me
'Cause I don't stand in line no more; admission's always free
  • Pat Monahan, who is married to his second wife Amber Peterson, has confirmed that this song is based on a true story. It is not known if the lyrical content is about his own personal experience.
  • This isn't the first time that Train have hooked up with someone in the country world. Nashville star Martina McBride got together with Pat Monahan to record a duet version of the band's song "Marry Me" for her album Eleven and Ashley Monroe jumped on "Bruises," a track off the group's 2012 album, California 37.
  • The song's sweet video applies the track's lyrical concept to childhood. The clip follows a young boy who feels like an outsider until he meets a girl who helps him feel maybe he'll be OK in this life. The three children in the visual are younger versions of Pat Monahan, Cam and Travie McCoy.
