Songfacts®:

  • Atlanta-based hip hop group Travis Porter consists of Lakeem "Ali" Mattox, Donquez "Quez" Woods, and Harold "Strap" Duncan. Ali and Quez are stepbrothers and they met Strap in middle school. The trio grew up together and started doing music together in 2006. In 2009 they kicked up some controversy with Roscoe Dash after the Atlanta rapper came up with the track All The Way Turnt Up and asked Travis Porter to contribute a couple of verses. However when the trio added the song to their Im A Diffrenter 2 mixtape fans of the track thought it was Travis Porter's song rather than Roscoe Dash's.
  • The group started out as the "Hard Hitters" but changed their name to Travis Porter in late 2008 to be more marketable. Quez explained why to The Boombox: "Ali came up with the name Travis Porter," he said. "And we were like, 'Nah... we can't name ourselves that.' We had another name like Heat The Flame for like two days, and we had a name called the Hard Heads, but we changed it because we wanted a more marketable name. And then Ali says, 'It's Travis Porter... I'm telling y'all that's the name."

He continued: "Travis Porter came off really catchy when we thought about it. You have to bring something different to hip-hop anyway. We can't come with the same swag."
  • This bouncy tune debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #97 in January 2011, giving Travis Porter their first mainstream chart hit.
  • The colourful video for the song has the threesome clad in suit and ties, dancing with bright yellow umbrellas in their hands on a country farm. "We just wanted to do something different," explained Strap to Boombox. "We didn't just want to do a black and white video or do a video in front of a green screen. We just wanted to have some fun... show these people that we are really creative. We take ourselves seriously, but we are not trying to be someone that we are not. We like to make good music that makes people feel good."
