Songfacts®:

  • This doomy rocker is a track from the second Tremonti album, Cauterize. The band is led by Mark Tremonti, who sings lead - something he didn't do with his bands Creed or Alter Bridge. Mark also does all the songwriting in the band, including the lyrics. "Dark Trip" he wrote about a friend who turned against him.

"Our families were close, we were close, he worked for me business-wise," Temonti said in his Songfacts interview. "But he left me hanging and it was a shock and it was a big blow for us as a family, so it's a very personal song."

  • Jon from Monument, CoNot sure why the song fact says Mark didn't sing lead with Creed or Alter Bridge, because he has done exactly that with both bands... He shares lead on Creed's "My Own Prison," as well as on Alter Bridge's "Words Darker Than Their Wings." And he performed full lead vocals on AB's "Waters Rising" and "Forever Falling."
