Songfacts®:

  • When Creed fell apart in 2004, their guitarist Mark Tremonti faced a great deal of uncertainty, which is reflected in "Radical Change."

"It's a song that I wrote about anybody going through a huge change in their life," Tremonti said in his Songfacts interview. "For me, it was when Creed was coming to an end and not knowing what the hell we were going to do or where we were going or how we were going to do it. Just feeling the weight of the world crashing down on us."

Tremonti ended up picking up the non-Scott Stapp pieces of Creed and forming Alter Bridge.
  • This was the first single from Tremonti's second album, Cauterize. In this group, Mark Tremonti sings lead and also handles all of the songwriting. The group's bass player for this album was Wolfgang Van Halen, who couldn't do the full tour to support the album, since he was on the road with his namesake band (Tanner Keegan took his place on stage when Wolf was unavailable).
