Songfacts®:

  • This features Tricky's ex girlfriend Lubna, who also sings on "School Gates." Lubna wrote this song when their relationship was turning from good to bad. He explained to The Sun July 4, 2008: "When we did Past Mistake, she was my girlfriend. She's French-Moroccan and used to do backing vocals for an Arabic singer. Her voice is very mysterious and lush. One day, we were hanging out listening to it and I realized it was about me and her. That was weird 'cos we were good but I knew what would happen to us eventually. In a way, I shouldn't have told her 'cos that couldn't have been nice. I'm in bed with someone and I'm saying: 'This is about us.' Then, if you check out the lyrics, you find there's no hope there."
