Songfacts®:

  • This sensual, upbeat track was released as the lead single from Troye Sivan's fifth studio album. "'My My My!' is a song of liberation, freedom, and love," Sivan said. "Throw all inhibition to the wind, be present in your body, love wholeheartedly, move the way you've always wanted to, and dance the way you feel - hopefully even to this song!"
  • The black-and-white music video features Troye Sivan dancing on his own and with a bunch of shirtless men. The clip was shot by frequent The Weeknd collaborator Grant Singer, who also directed Taylor Swift's and Zayn's "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" and Lorde's "Green Light" clips.
  • Troye Sivan explained the background to the song in a Genius interview:

"Love is a very scary thing. Especially if you're not sure yet if the other person loves you back. It's a really scary place to be in. As exciting as it is, there's a lot of vulnerability in it, and there's a bunch of reasons why people don't let themselves have that. For me, with this song, it was a bad time, it was a really bad time. But, what can you do?"
  • Oh my, my, my
I die every night with you
    Oh my, my, my
    Living for your every move

Sivan explained the hook: "With the chorus, we had, 'My my my. I die every night with you' first. And then it was like 'Well why do you die with them every night?' And then it was like 'Living for your every move.' I feel like when you're in that new love, or not even love, when you're in that infatuation with someone, every little touch feels like electricity. You can just touch your hand or whatever. I remember specifically the night I was picturing when we were writing this song. I remember being led through a bar with my hand and he was pulling me. I was just like, 'Oh my God.' It's like that kind of stuff."
