Songfacts®:

  • Singer/guitarist Alex Trimble played a theremin on this track. The theremin is an early electronic instrument invented in 1919 by the Russian scientist Léon Theremin. It was popular in the '50s and '60s, and interest spiked again in the '10s: Rush used it on "BU2B" and Mastodon on "Stargasm."

Trimble told NME: "When we came into the studio, Jacknife [Lee, producer] asked, 'Have you got any goals for this record?', and I said, 'I want to play a theremin,' so the next day he bought one."
