Songfacts®:

  • Originally recorded by Tyga solo for his seventh studio album, "Dip (Remix)" finds the rapper trading rhymes with Nicki Minaj. The labelmates previously linked up on Young Money's 2014 cut "Senile."
  • Both artists rap about their success in the music industry. Minaj specifically references her altercation with fellow New York rapper Cardi B at a September 2018 fashion week event sponsored by the fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar.

All that rah-rah never was the icon issue
Harper's Bazaar, I'm covering the icon issue
I got issues, yeah bitch, I got issues
    W, Vogue, Cosmo - I got issues

Their brawl during the Harper's Baazar Icons event began when Cardi threw her shoe at Nick. The term "Rah-Rah," could be a reference to reality star Rah Ali, who confronted Cardi. The following month Nicki was featured on the cover of the fashion magazine.
  • The song was produced by Tyga's frequent collaborator D.A. Doman. He also helmed the rapper's 2018 comeback hit "Taste."
  • When this song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 dated November 10, 2018 Nicki Minaj became the first female artist to clock up 100 career appearances on the chart. Her other 99 appearances on the listing are a combination of features and cuts on which she's the lead artist.
