Songfacts®:

  • The first single from Tyga's third LP, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, is a slinky tune featuring Justin Bieber. It was premiered on October 21, 2013 and released on iTunes the following day.
  • The tune was originally recorded for Justin's fourth LP, but Tyga didn't want to wait to use it. "The song was actually, originally for his album. I figured we put it out," Tyga told MTV News. "The time is now, time is of the essence, so I''ll use it and we can get the dope look and shoot a video for it."
  • Tyga compared working with Justin to his collaborating with another R&B leaning hitmaker Chris Brown. "I felt like when me and Chris did 'Deuces,' it was a moment, so I felt like this would be a big moment for both of us with this song," the rapper said.
  • Justin and Tyga came up with the video concept between them. Tyga explained to MTV News that the pair wanted to create something with the quality of a short film. "We got some of the guys that do CGI for some of the big movies. We''re freezing time and switching different worlds trying to get away from certain things - the negative that comes with the lifestyle," he said. "I just always want to take it to another level, instead of just shooting this regular story. Just be creative and try to do something way different."
  • The music video was shot on November 14, 2013 in Long Beach, California and directed by Krista Liney, who also helmed Tyga's "Throw It Up" visual. We see paparazzi hungry for a piece of the two stars and slow dancing in a castle. She explained the clip's concept to Rolling Stone: "The prevailing theme of the song is fame, the overwhelming demand for Justin Bieber and Tyga's time and attention… This concept explores being famous through the eyes of these artists."

"Everyone is after them, everyone wants time with them, everyone wants to bask in their spotlight," Liney continued. "Every moment of their lives is scheduled, including taking a moment to breathe. They are chased, they are exposed... can everyone just wait for a minute?"
  • Tyga explained that the video's trippy concept was inspired by The Matrix movies. "We're freezing time and switching different worlds trying to get away from certain things — the negative that comes with the lifestyle," the Young Money rapper said. "I just always want to take it to another level, instead of just shooting this regular story. Just be creative and try to do something way different."
