Songfacts®:

  • This escapist anthem is about living like a rock star. It is titled after the Mötley Crüe drummer as Tyla Yaweh admires his attitude of not caring what other people think of him and living without fear. "I kinda live by that same rule," he explained to NME. "Being me and not letting anyone judge me."
  • The hedonistic song features Yaweh's pal Post Malone. They became friends after the Florida rapper opened for the "Sunflower" hitmaker in Orlando, and since then they've toured the world together.
  • The original version features programmed beats but a remix was also laid down featuring Tommy Lee himself playing drums, guitar and bass at his home studio while in COVID-19 quarantine. "It's killer," Lee told SiriusXM's Debatable about the song. "It's basically [an ode to] living that rock star life that people in hip-hop always seem to talk about."
  • Lee and Post Malone previously collaborated on the rapper's 2018 Beerbongs & Bentleys track "Over Now."
  • Malone knows all about having a song named after him. In 2019, the Dutch producer garnered an international hit with "Post Malone," in which he compares his nocturnal revelries to that of the titular rapper.
  • Post Malone recorded his verse with Tyla Yaweh in a Washington, DC hotel. It's one of his favorite verses. "We did that verse in like 30 minutes, but it was just so perfect," he told Apple Music. "I was like, 'This is so fun.' This is like, I was pretty pumped up."
