Songfacts®:

  • "I Think" finds Tyler, the Creator detailing the destabilizing feeling of committing to a relationship. He thinks he's falling in love but the Odd Future co-founder is concerned about remaining vulnerable.

    I don't know where I'm going
But I know what I'm showing
    Feelings, that's what I'm pouring
  • This is the third track on the Igor album. The record tells the story of Tyler falling in love, only to see his romantic interest leave him for his ex-girlfriend. This song develops the theme of love which was introduced in the previous track, "Earfquake."
  • The pulsing bassline is a sample of "Special Lady," an '80s recording by Nigerian disco and funk act Bibi Mascel.
  • The song came about as the result of an inspirational trip that Tyler took with Frank Ocean and Solange to Lake Como in northern Italy. Solange recorded vocals there for the track.
  • "I Think" features background vocal contributions by The Voice contestants Anthony Evans and Amanda Brown plus Tiffany Stevenson, who previously appeared on Kanye West's "Ultralight Beam."
