Songfacts®:

  • According to Pete Way in his autobiography A Fast Ride Out Of Here..., the band decided to come up with an epic song for their second album, but, "We meant to create more of an atmosphere than actual songs, since that appeared to be the mood of the time, but truth be told, I don't think our efforts have aged particularly well. At best, they sound naive now and, at worst, a load of old rubbish."

Modesty is a wonderful thing, but the bass player is too self-deprecating by half. They actually came up with two big songs: the ultra-epic title track and this one.
  • Like the rest of the album, "Star Storm" is a group composition. Running to almost 19 minutes, it contains lots of atmospherics and lead guitar by the band's original axeman, Mick Bolton. >>>
