Songfacts®:

  • In this song Usher celebrates fatherhood. Usher married Tameka Foster in August 2007. Three months later, their son Usher Raymond V was born.
  • The album's cover shows a license plate 1126, the date of Usher Raymond V's birth.
  • Usher revealed to Essence that he wants to be the father to his son that he never had. His own father died a few months prior to the release of the album, but he was absent for much of the singer's life due to drug and alcohol abuse. The R&B star told the magazine: "I don't judge my father, because I forgave him anything he'd ever done to hurt me unintentionally. My father and I had a very short amount of time together throughout my entire life, but the most valuable time was during his final days. He asked me to forgive him for not being there."

Usher added that this song stems from that conversation, and is addressed to his son. He said: "No matter what happened, my father always prayed for me. The only difference is, I'm gonna be there to be the father that my dad wished he was to me."
