  • There's something soothing about a well-crafted winter song, the kind that wraps around you like a warm blanket as the frost creeps in. V has carved a niche for himself in this frosty musical realm, and "Winter Ahead" is no exception. A smooth, jazzy duet with his friend and fellow Korean singer Park Hyo Shin, it's a track that feels like an invitation to sit by the fire, sip something warm, and let the snow drift quietly outside.
  • Lie with me
    By the fire

This line conjures an image of cozy intimacy, but the song's title hints at something more profound. "Winter ahead" is a metaphor for the challenges that lie in wait, a reminder that love can be both a refuge and a source of strength when life grows cold.
  • The idea for "Winter Ahead" came from V, who envisioned a winter-themed track as a gift to BTS's devoted fandom, ARMY. The lyrics were penned by Jesse Harris, a frequent collaborator of Norah Jones and the songwriter behind her Grammy Song Of The Year-winning hit "Don't Know Why."
  • HYESUNG and Waizmin handled the production. A saxophone sets the mood right from the start, its soulful tones paving the way for dreamy piano melodies, stirring strings, and trumpet accents. The song marked the first major placement for both producers.
  • The accompanying music video was inspired by the Greek myth of Pygmalion. Here, V steps into the role of a sculptor crafting his ideal partner, the lines between reality and imagination dissolving as the story unfolds. The video ends on a reflective note, with V confronting multiple versions of himself, symbolizing the complexity of human emotions and the search for inner peace.
  • V is no stranger to crafting winter-themed songs. His back catalog is practically a playlist for cold-weather comfort. They include:

    "Winter Bear" (2019)
A surprisingly wintry vibe for a song released in August, this was V's first solo foray into the genre.

    "Snow Flower"
On December 25, 2020, V released "Snow Flower" featuring Peakboy as a Christmas gift to fans.

    "Christmas Tree"
V released "Christmas Tree" as part of the Our Beloved Summer OST in December 2021.

    "White Christmas"
V collaborated with a virtual Bing Crosby on a rendition of "White Christmas," released on December 6, 2024. Created in partnership with the Bing Crosby Estate, the new version of the holiday standard allows V to sing alongside the legendary crooner he has described as his "all-time favorite jazz artist."
