Songfacts®:

  • A Different Kind Of Truth is the 12th (and last) studio album by Van Halen and the first by their reconfigured lineup of singer David Lee Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen. It is the first time David Lee Roth has featured on a Van Halen studio disc since their 1984 album and also marks the debut of Eddie's son, Wolfgang.
  • The origins of this song lie in "Let's Get Rockin'," one of the 1976 demos Van Halen recorded on a demo cassette for Warner Bros. It has subsequently been fattened up with some updated lyrics including a reference to Facebook. The tune is one of a number of tracks on A Different Kind Of Truth reworked from old demos. Roth explained to LA Times: "It's material that Eddie and I generated in 1975, 1976 and 1977. Usually fellas in our weight division will kind of gamely – or ironically, wink-wink – try to hail back to it, but keep a safe, mature distance from it."
