  • This is a duet between Vince Gill and his wife Amy Grant. It was Gill who suggested the pair team up to record it together. He said: "'True Love' is a song Amy had written about me and I asked her if I could write a bridge for it with changes. It's mostly her song, with just a little help from me. She was sweet enough to say that we wrote it together. It also was the first thing we recorded in our new studio, so it's really special. She did not want to do it as a duet. She has trouble with how slow I like to do some songs. She says, 'I can't sing that slow.' 'Yes you can. I promise you that you can.'" (Source: Roughstock)
  • Keyboardist and longtime friend John Hobbs plays the piano on this track. Gill commented that it "is very reminiscent of Norah Jones - very smoky."
  • Gill's step-daughter, Sarah Chapman, can he be heard singing the answers on this track along with Grant. He told The Boot it wasn't out of nepotism that he chose a family member for this song. "I thought how neat it would be to have Sarah on there," he said. "She's 18, and she's really showing a great interest in singing. She has a really compelling and unique sounding voice. The bottom line every time is that it's about the sound of what I'm looking for more than the person I'm looking for."
  • Sarah was named after the Country legend Minnie Pearl, who was a friend of Grant and her first husband Gary Chapman. Pearl's real name was Sarah Ophelia Colley Cannon.

  • Rg from CaliforniaThe attached video is not the correct video, even though it has the same title. I pasted the correct link below. The correct song is really a great song. Make sure you hear it! Though it's not the best video recording, the song is 1000 times better than the attached one. Vince is right: it really has the smokey sound of Norah Jones. It might be Amy Grant's best song! Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5D-_fFj6s8 Enjoy, you won't regret it.
