Songfacts®:

  • This features a couple of verses sung by Canadian vocalist Danko Jones, who fronts a band with the same name. Volbeat first linked up with Jones when he supported them on their 2013 Spring tour. Guitarist Rob Caggiano told TeamRock:

"We were working on this song 'Black Rose', and Michael [Poulsen, Volbeat frontman] was singing the verse part, and he was, like, 'Maybe Danko Jones could sing on this one. It sounds like something that he would do.' And it totally does! We could almost hear it before it even happened. When we approached him about doing it, he was totally psyched, and he completely nailed it."
  • The NSFW-ish animated video for the song was produced and directed by Toon53 Productions, who are based in South Africa.
