Songfacts®:

  • Volbeat wrote and recorded this summer love song during the coronavirus pandemic. The track is a product of the band working together remotely. Singer Michael Poulsen, bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen, drummer Jon Larsen and longtime producer Jacob Hansen all based in Europe were able to connect with guitarist Rob Caggiano in New York.
  • At just over two minutes long, this is an old-school rock 'n' roll love song where Michael Poulsen sings of a summer romance that he fears is nearing its end. Rather than going their separate ways, he pleads with the girl to stay with him.
  • Guest saxophone player Doug Corcoran from JD McPherson's band performs a roaring sax solo. His contribution, along with that of his bandmate, pianist Raynier Jacob Jacildo, adds to the song's retro rock and roll vibe. Both musicians previously appeared with Volbeat on their 2019 track "Die To Live." Singer Mia Maja, who has worked with the band since their 2016 album Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie, also features on backing vocals.
  • Volbeat released this song along with "Dagen Før" on June 2, 2021. Addressing some fans' criticism that the two tracks are too "poppy" for the Danish rockers, Rob Caggiano told Barbara Caserta of Italy's Linea Rock:

"There are a lot of different styles that Volbeat does, and we're influenced by a lot of different music. Obviously, the heavy stuff is a big part of our DNA and a big part of our influence; we all grew up listening to heavy stuff. Everybody in the band is kind of on the same page with what we listen to and what we're influenced by. It's the kind of thing where I don't think Volbeat ever... There's no real formula per se. It's not like [we say], 'Oh, we're gonna make this type of record.' It's not like that. Whatever ideas come out come out."
  • Sean Donnelly, founder of AWESOME + modest Los Angeles animation studio directed the video with collages by Mengqing Yuan and animation by Steve Yeung. The band recruited Donnelly and his team for the clip after being impressed by the animation work they did in the HBO documentary miniseries The Lady And The Dale.
  • The song topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart, becoming the Danish rockers' ninth #1 on the tally.
