  • Not all of the men who've inspired Vonda Shepard's songs have been her lovers. Some of them have been co-stars, like Ally McBeal's Peter MacNicol.

    Shepard wrote "Finally Home," which is featured on her 2008 From the Sun album, while sitting in her dressing room listening to the far off sounds of bagpipes. It turned out they were coming from MacNicol's dressing room. "I could hear that droning sound and I was inspired by it," she told Songfacts.
