Songfacts®:

  • Wale shout-outs to Washington D.C.'s Latino-populated neighborhood on this DJ Don Cannon produced track. Urban-reggaeton superstar J Balvin contributes a guest verse. Wale explained the collaboration to Genius:

"J. Balvin is from Colombia the country, and I'm from the District of Colombia, it's the same thing, but it's not the same thing. So, I was in the studio by myself at the time, and I just hear the beat and I say, 'Ahhh, I like this one. It's good, it's sweet.' And then I just did that joint, and that was it."
  • Wale raps in Spanish on the track

She Puerto Rican but she speak-y Brooklyn
Mira mami tranquila, Mira mami tranquila

Wale brushed up on his Spanish with the help of a Colombian-American crime web television series: "I learned 'tranquila' from Narcos," the rapper said. "I watched that mothaf---a with the subtitles, I know it's in English, but I wanna know when y'all break out into y'all s--t what's going on so I learned that mothaf---a early."
