  • "Funnel Of Love" wasn't penned by Wanda Jackson herself but by the songwriting duo of Charlie McCoy and Kent Westbury. While recording for Capitol Records in 1960, Jackson, known for blending country and rock and roll, encountered the fiery love song, the title a play on the "tunnel of love" amusement park rides. She was drawn to its unique style that transcended genre boundaries. As Jackson recounted in a 2012 interview with Philadelphia Weekly: "It wasn't country, it wasn't rock, but we knew it was a good song. So we made a good record of it."
  • The recording of "Funnel Of Love" took place on October 28, 1960, at Bradley Film and Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The session featured the renowned Nashville A-Team, a group of elite musicians who played on countless country recordings during the late 1950s and '60s. Notably, the song boasts a guitar solo by Roy Clark, a member of Jackson's band The Party Timers who later achieved his own successful country music career.
  • "Funnel Of Love" was released as the B-side to Jackson's single "Right Or Wrong." Although it never climbed the charts like its A-side counterpart, "Funnel Of Love" garnered significant critical acclaim over the years. Many consider it one of Jackson's strongest vocal performances.
  • The influence of "Funnel Of Love" extends far beyond its initial release. Adele, the Grammy-winning British singer, has named it one of her favorite songs. According to Jackson, Adele even credited "Funnel of Love" as a major inspiration for her hit song "Rolling In The Deep." In a 2010 interview with Rolling Stone, Adele stated: "I got addicted to this Wanda Jackson hits album. She's so cheeky and so raunchy. She's kind of like the female Elvis: really sexual, not afraid to embarrass herself."

This shared musical connection even led to Jackson serving as Adele's opening act on her 2011-12 UK tour.
  • "Funnel Of Love" has enjoyed a vibrant life beyond Jackson's original recording. In 2001, the band Velvetone covered the song, even featuring Jackson herself on the track. Jackson revisited the song again in 2003 with the punk rock band The Cramps. The song has also been tackled by artists like The Fall (2010) and Cyndi Lauper (2016), who performed it live with Jackson at the 2016 America Salutes You concert. Film director Jim Jarmusch further solidified the song's enduring appeal by featuring a cover by his band SQÜRL in his 2013 vampire film Only Lovers Left Alive.
  • "Funnel Of Love" has appeared in several other films and television shows, including the 2008 gangster film RocknRolla by director Guy Ritchie, the 2010 episode "Tequila Sunrise" of the HBO comedy drama series Entourage, and the 2021 episode "Pale" of the FX horror anthology American Horror Story.
